seems like forever since i’ve written a post. things have been quite busy around here with prepping + finishing up exams, gearing up for Pop Shop Houston, + sending out new merchandise to our 2 new retailers (wholesale style! yay!)! all good things. we recently were found on Instagram by a shop in Regina, Canada called Norwood + they have officially picked up ADD jewelry! the power of technology is great + we are so thankful to be officially international. as you know, mothers day is around the corner + to show our appreciation to the ladies who have made our hearts beat since day 1, we are giving 15% off all orders (including leather goods) from may 8th – 13th with the discount code LOVE. if you happen to be in the Houston area, swing by Spring Street Studios May 11th + 12th to see a range of handmade, local makers displaying their works. we will be there and would love to see you! hope your week has been swell.

bang bang, h-town

days feel like whirlwinds and i am just a piece of scrap whirling around. i am constantly learning new things and meeting new people; doing new jobs and venturing out. so much to see; so little time. this is true. i’ve never felt so excited about learning and just … doing. but i also have never felt so tired

one of the many adventures today after school, jewelry repairs, splashing in puddles, and so on…. involved a girl, ink, a silkscreen, and a squeegee. finally, i broke in the silkscreen (DIY style) that a very inspiring individual gifted me. i think we did a trade or something, but he had this custom made with our Abbie Drue Designs logo by his friend Sean of Caught in Customs…..ramble… and it was a success. i banged out 20 tees. they were mostly white with black print and then black with a pink and grey mix. my friend was a little hesitant on letting me mix the colors because he didn’t think it would show up well but it turned out nice. thanks G1.

midnight fascinations before bed: checked out “not in fashion” works of mark borthwick this book represents a collection of his work in photography, personal writings, poems, and other things.

“as a creative person, you must have trust. you must accept that the heart and soul of every artistic experience lie an accident and an extreme element of chance. we all sometimes try to hard to control things, and the end result almost always end up being the same old thing over and over again – you have to throw caution to the wind and let your heart go, even if sometimes your experiments don’t work out the way you want them to” aaron rose on art, creativity, and mark

hit 19th street yesterday and did some retail therapy shopping at a few vintage/recycled clothing shops. first stop, Style Cyle. i tried on some dresses and fell in love with this sky blue checkaberry dress from the 40’s. i paired it with some brown leather pumps. unfortunately it was a size or 2 too big so i didnt buy it but i will be on the look out for one just like it! i had allison, the store owner, put it on my wish list. she also just redesigned this lovely Gunne Sax dress and had me try it on for her. she bleached the skirt because it had sunspots and it came out with a tie dye feel that mixed perfectly with the lace and sparkle top. her shop is filled with so many beautiful floor length gowns and wedding dresses as well as other things like china dishes, vintage accessories, suitcases, and more. next stop, retropolis. dug around the collections for about an hour, tried on some interesting items and stumbled upon a pair of Jimmy Choo’s for $45. ladies, they are a size 6.5 (i’m a 7).

photo_6can somebody say i look like im about to take a mugshot? hah this was a grey and white striped linen dress i found. it fit nice in the arms but with the low hemline on a short gal like me, i don think it.. fit like a glove so to speak. in the end, i went home empty handed but i enjoyed getting out into the nice cool weather we are experiencing and trying on old styles.
