High. 5-0.

to the man that has always been supportive, given me love (even if it was a little tough), and has inspired me to have a vision – make a plan – and follow through. happy birthday dad.

twenty-two

it’s my (our) party, i’ll cry if i want to. i probably will –  i’m a sucker like that. it’s another day and another year to add on to my life. not just mine, but my dear twin sister annie. we’re going to be celebrating the evening with a nice close-nit dinner with family and my best friend from middle school. i’m very content in my life right now and all of the blessings, both good and bad, that have occurred in the past year. i feel as though my eyes have opened and i am now viewing everything in a much broader, brighter, and eager light. i’m so eager to learn, share, create, design, and build relationships. heres to you annie.we haven’t spoken since December but no matter what, you will always be my best friend. i love you very, very much and hope one day you will find the strength inside to believe in all of your abilities – the world is yours. the world is ours. together, we can achieve greatness. hand in hand, like the good ol’ days.

happy birthday to my partner in crime since day 1 – even if you kicked me out of the womb. : ) you may be 4 minutes older but i still have an inch on you.

i put a dent in it

well a minor one. while in denton (a small town outside of dallas) i hit the streets and found a few antique shops – and, of course, left with 6 vintage items for only $28! i picked up an old, concierge bell, a gum-ball machine (because everyone needs one of these), 3 glass jars of all shapes and sizes, and a new set of antlers. the concierge bell and jars were all under $6 which is why i had to pick them up. i’ve seen these items around houston marked way up. for example, i’ve seen the bell for $60-$75 and an old mason jar for $25+. i traveled to denton for my nieces 4th birthday party. we had lots of candy, homemade pizza’s, cake, and fun. i left early this morning because school is starting back up again tomorrow but came home with, and to, many surprises. new supplies in the mail for upcoming designs, a new typewriter ribbon, + all of these vintage goodies. now, off to work on the new web design (bike ride) with a friend. happy birthday sage!

on the road

. . and someone is having a birthday! my lovely niece sage is turning 4 on sunday and is having a pajama themed party to celebrate – going to have to pick up some pj’s at walmart. hello kitty or spiderman? this morning, i went to Space in montrose, picked up a crazy, handmade owl friend, got a parking ticket in the meantime (score!), and then hit the road. theres just something about solo road trips. nothing but you, the road, some tunes, and your thoughts. p.s. – the owl was a hit, literally.

merry

it sure doesnt feel like Christmas here in Houston (weather wise) but the love from friends and family have made it a special one. every Christmas that comes by, i start to care less and less about the gifts and more about enjoying time spent with lovely people, new friends, and family. i managed to avoid a mall this year (score!) and bought little trinket gifts at my favorite antique shop, August Antiques. little childrens books for the cousins, an antique silver locket that said “Sally” (for my aunt whose mom was named sally), and more. a hymnal book that i purchased for my mimi and papa turned out to be the same one that my papa used as a child at church. below are photos from Christmas at my grandparents house. hope you had a lovely holiday with lots of blessing and love.
